Find Out ‘Where the Chefs Eat’ on a Houston Culinary Tour!

Although Houston is filled with an enormous number of tasty places to dine, it can be easy to miss hidden gems or make a decision to try something new. If you don’t know where to eat on any given night because you think you have no options, you may either live too far from Central Houston or you are new here. However, don’t worry! In any case, Houston Culinary Tours can help.

Their motto is “Where the Chefs Eat” and these expeditions, some chef-led, some neighborhood-based walking trips, are designed to bring out the foodie in you. And, this ain’t no Applebees trek!

You can buy tickets to any of these tours off their website or you can even hire them to do a private event for your friends or your company. You can also see prior jaunts to decide if you and a friend (a date?) want to make a go of it yourselves.

Some of these excursions are quite pricey, but with the caliber of the food that’s laid out for you combined with the knowledge of the chef who has designed the tour, and even sometimes the theme (like the “Day of the Dead” tour), will give you some valuable, cool education on what to do, where to go, and what it all means.

This may sound like a field trip for kids but, don’t be fooled—most tours are 21+ so there’s very little chance you’ll be with an actual group of children learning what food besides mac and cheese tastes like. Although if you haven’t read the “Four-Year-Old Reviews..,” the restaurant series from The Bold Italic, you are missing out!

There are generally 4 stops on a circuit, with plenty of amazing food. The instructions gently encourage you to pace yourself, plus you can enjoy alcoholic beverages on the bus  and at each location, with Saint Arnold’s being a sponsor. There’s also a professional photographer at each event—so even when the food is fully digested, you’ll have something to remember it by!

Went on a tour and found something amazing? Or just looking for something special to cook this week? The Houston Culinary Tours website has a whole section dedicated to recipes by professional Houston Chefs who own restaurants that are a Gourmand’s dream. Yes, Houston really does have everything!
