5 Best Places to Get A Snowcone to Beat the Houston Heat!

Summers in Houston can be get pretty hot, so we want to help you beat the heat by enjoying Houston’s best snow cones! Snow cone companies have become more popular in recent years and competition is getting tough. As the competition becomes more unyielding, their products are getting better and we can’t wait to visit as many locations as we can. Though they had a tough time, Houston Culturemap‘s team eventually they came to an agreement of the top five best places to check out:

1. Texas Blizzard – They earned the top spot because of their natural, fresh flavors in their syrups, the size of their snow cones, the kind staff members, and their convenient location..You can find Texas Blizzard in a trailer on Studewood St just northwest of downtown Houston.

2. Yeti Sunshine – Also served out of a mobile truck that changes locations in order to serve all parts of Houston, their location is updated on their website for their customers to come and see them. Yeti doesn’t use any preservatives, making their snow cones from fresh herbs and fruits. They are known for their unique flavors including Vietnamese coffee and their most popular, lime-Thai basil.

3. Oasis – Located in the Memorial neighborhood and is recognized for their Texas-sized menu, Oasis has over 160 flavors to choose from–everyone is bound to find something they’ll love.

4. MAM’s – MAM’s House of Ice is one of the most popular locations for shaved ice in Houston, but they weren’t able to earn the top spot because of the long lines. Wait times can reach up to 30 minutes during peak business hours. They have become so popular that they have decided to open a store in the Heights that is scheduled to open soon. If you can’t get out to grab a snow cone, MAM’s also delivers!

5. Mango Beach – Mango Beach is conveniently located across the street from Stude Park in the Heights District, making it easy to grab a treat and head over to the park to cool off. You can also find a variety other tasty treats including iced coffees, churros, nachos, frito pies, and ice creams.
