Located off of Montrose Boulevard, technically on the campus of St. Thomas, Eatsie Boys Cafe enjoys a parking lot, shady trees, and an historic building next to a cute pub. It’s a dream come true for food truck chefs Matt, Ryan and Alex.

With a little bit of graffiti art to keep the place current and casual, the interior of the Eatsie Boys Cafe is cheery, clean and has an assortment of organic Kombucha, artisan Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Mexican Cokes. Their menu is expansive and getting ready to change as the season changes (a notice is posted on a chalkboard inside), so stay tuned to that!

The sandwiches here are to die for. I was torn in about different four directions when I ordered—the Slow Ride, the Sabrosa, the Maestro and the Still Shrimpin’—and those are just the ‘new’ sandwiches. Bu,  this wasn’t the first time I’d experienced the mouthwatering joy from these Eatsie Boys. The first time I heard the call was while their food truck was parked near Agora: I had some kind of tofu Banh Mi type of sandwich that rocked my world. The second, I went for the “Just Trust Us” brunch at their Cafe location… and my complete faith was handsomely rewarded.

This time, however, the Slow Ride won out because of the pickles with pickled shallots on chicken salad made with I think some kind of chipotle alt-mayo (?) and crispy chicken skin (the deciding factor). It was gone before it even started. Don’t get me wrong—this is a big sandwich. There’s plenty to it, but I could not put it in my mouth fast enough. Everything was right with this sandwich!

It’s little wonder why Free Press Houston named Eatsie Boys as having the ‘Best Sandwich’ at their first annual Sammy Awards this year. In fact, the Eatsie Boys website has a whole #humblebrag page with a litany of awards these guys have earned since their inception in 2010. Stop by and see them for breakfast all day or one of their life-changing sandwiches, and see why I’m an Eatsie and a bit more in love each time I go in!
